Asbestos air monitoring (or air testing) is undertaken to detect the level of asbestos fibers in the air following the asbestos removal process or where asbestos may have been disturbed to determine whether the space is safe for occupation.
Air is drawn through a filter using an air pump over a period of time. Air particles are collected and examined under a microscope by a qualified asbestos analyst to determine if the fiber limit is within a safe control limit.
Although air testing is not always a legislative requirement, it is a useful tool in the monitoring of the quality of asbestos removal techniques, compliance monitoring of staff, and reassurance to tenants and staff, amongst other things. Air testing is also a key final stage in the licensed removal of your asbestos containing materials.
